Aggala a sweet for your tea time, for treat your visitors or Sinhala and Tamil new year table.
INGREDIENTS:
For 18 aggala pills
- 3/4 pound of half-boiled rice (Miltard or some other boiled rice is available)
- 1/2 pound of minced coconut
- 1 3/4 pounds of Kithul honey
- 10 crushed peppercorns (optional)
METHOD:
- Wash the rice and fry till it turns brown
- Melt the honey once until it boils. Keep 1/2 cup of honey out of this honey (to be taken later if needed)
- Put coconut in boiling honey and cook 2-3 times till it boils
- Leave to simmer for 5 – 10 minutes.
- Gradually add the rice flour. Stir well. Add more honey if needed. The mixture should be slightly stiff
